A mother-of-three is facing felony charges for allegedly leaving her daughters home alone while she vacationed in Cancun with her boyfriend.
Aida Stovall, 30, is charged with three counts of child abuse/neglect.
Pictures recently posted on Stovall’s Facebook account show a scenic shot of a resort and a man who appears to be traveling with her.
Stovall left her 11-year-old and twin 8-year-old daughters alone for two days in September, while she and her boyfriend traveled to Mexico.
Stovall reportedly didn’t leave an emergency number, according to the documents.
Her oldest daughter told a school principal that she and her sisters were left alone. That’s when the investigation was launched.
Stovall was arrested by U.S. Customs agents when she returned to the country in Florida. She was extradited back to Virginia.
A teary Stovall appeared in the courtroom via video monitor, telling the judge of the allegations, “That’s not true.”
A 67-year-old neighbor says the first time she ever spoke to Stovall, the mother asked if she would watch her children while she was away for five days.
The neighbor said she’d only be able to check in, and that Stovall replied her 11-year-old would be able to cook and do the laundry.
The neighbor says when she did stop in to see the girls, no one was home. According to the neighbor, Stovall’s daughters are now staying with a relative.
